The Sound officially has their first #1 song! After climbing the Gospel Music charts for over 6 months, The Sound’s first single from their Make It Count album, “Can I Get A Witness”, has finally reached the top spot.
“We’re just so humbled”, shares Levi, “because when you think about it, we’re a very new band. Gospel Music welcoming us with open arms and playing our single means so much to us. It’s really incredible how the Lord is using this song to bless so many people across the world.”
The Sound signed with New Day Records in June of 2019 and released their acclaimed Make It Count album November. If the radio success of “Can I Get A Witness” is any indication of how the album is being received, they should have quite a ride ahead of them in the coming months. The band released the following statement shortly after the announcement:
“Our very first #1 song. Wow. What a thrill! To God be the glory. We wanted to take a moment and really absorb this milestone, so there are a few things we need to say right now:
First and foremost, we thank God for blessing us the way that he has. None of what we do happens without his constant guidance, provision, and protection. We also need to thank our family, especially Angie Mills and Emily Mills, for loving and supporting us through everything that we’ve worked towards the last several years.
Kenna Turner West, Jason Cox, and Brent Baxter: The writers of another #1 song! The talent that each one of you possesses is absolutely immeasurable. We can’t thank you enough for the work that you do. You’re such a blessing to so many people across the country and across the world. Too often, songwriters are reduced to a footnote on the inside of an album sleeve; we’re here to tell the world that Can I Get A Witness wouldn’t exist without each one of you! We’re proud to have you standing by our side. This is your moment, and we’re honored to share it with you!
After that, we’d like to say a HUGE “thank you” to our STELLAR team at New Day Record Label for taking a chance on us just under a year ago and entering in to an incredible working relationship with us. Every single one of the staff members there is amazing and we could never have imagined that we’d go so far together in such a short amount of time. We’re just getting started, guys! To Scott Godsey, the producer of Make It Count, this record couldn’t have happened without you. Long before production began, you were instrumental in its success. Thank you for everything you’ve done for The Sound.
To The Harper Agency, who books our concert dates and appearances, we appreciate everything that you do on our behalf and we are honored to work alongside you every day. Thank you for your amazing support. You’re the best in the business!
To Singing News and SGN Scoops and the DJ’s that report to their respective charts, THANK YOU! You played the song, you made this possible! Radio programs (and the music that you play) have been so important to people all across the country over the last few months. While we’re all at home, you’re right there with us. Thank you for the tremendous work that you do and for the incredible support that you’ve given The Sound over the last several months. You’re all awesome!
Last but CERTAINLY not least: THANK YOU to all of our fans who listen to and support our music! We made our whole album with you in mind. Each and every one of you is amazing and we can’t wait to see you all again soon!
